Tyler Koch on How to Build an Elite Fighter Pilot

Author: Mike Robertson July 12, 2024 Duration: 1:06:50

Okay serious question – have you ever pondered what the training is like for fighter pilots?

Maybe it’s just me, but as a young kid growing up watching Top Gun I always wondered what training looked like for guys like Maverick, Goose, Iceman and Slider…and somehow I just knew it probably took more than just playing beach volleyball!

And today, we’ve got someone that can really help us shed some light on this topic!

Tyler Koch has over 13 years of experience in the field of Human Performance. Most recently, he worked as a Subject Matter Expert for the United States Air Force, overseeing Human Performance within the F-35 fighter pilot community.

He was also integral in founding the first ever Human Performance Initiative within Undergraduate Pilot Training.

And in this show, we’re going to take a deep dive into what it REALLY TAKES from a physical perspective to be a fighter pilot!

If you can deadlift 1.5-2x your body weight, and if you can do that, your ability to pull G’s is going to be improved. – Tyler Koch

This Week on the Physical Prep Podcast:
