6PR - 882 News Talk

6PR went to air on 14 October 1931, when Australian radio itself was barely a dozen years old, and it has been Perth's talk constant ever since. Founded by the Nicholson's electrical and music warehouse and broadcasting today on 882 AM, it holds a distinction no local rival can claim: Perth's only commercial talkback station.

Now under Tapt Media in a national talk family alongside 2GB, 3AW and 4BC, the format runs news, talk, sport, weather and traffic around the clock, with Perth listeners calling in to shape the conversation on politics, business and community life. Sport runs deep in the schedule, from AFL to cricket.

Its history includes wartime ingenuity - BBC bulletins captured off-air and pedalled by bicycle between studios - and its present includes a free live web stream that keeps Perth talk radio a click away for locals and expats listening online anywhere in the world.
