Hobart FM

Hobart FM - your community and multicultural broadcasters, as its slogan runs - serves the Greater Hobart area with programming aimed squarely at the 50-plus listener: music from all eras, specialist music hours and conversation presented by people who know and care about what they play.

Cultural groups from diverse backgrounds present their own programs, and the station's facilities give local groups a way to promote their activities to the wider community - a quiet, steady service of companionship radio that Tasmania's capital would otherwise lack.

The licence sits with Hobart FM Incorporated, a not-for-profit association whose members elect the committee at the AGM; some 100 volunteers run broadcasting, production and fundraising, with support from the CBAA and the Community Broadcasting Foundation. Free to stream online, it makes an easy community web radio listen - the companionship station of the Derwent, for Hobart and the world.
