Portuguese Radio

Portuguese Radio is the Sydney radio arm of Jornal Portugues, the community newspaper of Australia's Portuguese, and it keeps the same promise in sound: music, interviews and lots of listener participation, all in Portuguese.

The station serves the diaspora that has grown around Petersham's Little Portugal in Sydney's inner west - its cafes, pastelarias and community clubs - carrying news from Lisbon and the islands, local community matters and requests through the phone-in culture it is known for.

Streaming around the clock since the early 1990s, it works as a cultural lifeline: fado beside modern pop, Madeira and the Azores beside mainland news, and community notices that keep the clubs full. Free to stream online, it makes an easy Portuguese web radio listen - the sound of Sydney's Portuguese community, for the diaspora and for learners of the language anywhere in the world.
