SWR 99.9 FM

SWR 99.9 FM - Sydney West Radio, callsign 2SWR - is the community station of Blacktown and Greater Western Sydney, reaching much of the metro area from its transmitter. Its road here was long: born from an 1980s aspirant group, testing on weekends from 1994, and finally licensed for full-time broadcasting on 27 September 2003.

The mission is access: a voice for anyone in the community regardless of age, gender, nationality or experience, delivered by volunteer broadcasters and funded by listeners, grants and sponsorship.

The sound is adult hits from the 70s to now, with genuinely local layers - The Final Whistle covering junior rugby league, business and money advice shows, community events and festivals, and an acknowledgement of the Dharug people as traditional custodians. Free to stream online, SWR makes an easy community web radio listen - Western Sydney's own voice, from Blacktown to anywhere in the world.
