AFN Bahrain - The Eagle

AFN Bahrain - The Eagle is the American Forces Network outlet serving the United States naval community in Manama, home to the US Fifth Fleet. Operated through the Defense Media Activity, AFN exists to bring American radio to service members and their families stationed far from home - and The Eagle is its contemporary hit-music brand, modelled on stateside commercial radio.

Expect the familiar architecture of American top 40: current hits and pop chart material, energetic presentation and the general feel of a hometown FM station dropped onto the Gulf. The playlist follows US chart trends rather than regional sounds, a deliberate slice of home for an audience that changes with every deployment cycle.

Technically the station runs on a professional broadcast CDN, with a worldwide MP3 web stream that opens in any player or radio app. Civilians can listen in as well: free online radio with an American accent, broadcast from the Kingdom of Bahrain - a live stream anyone can tune into.
