5RPH Vision Australia Radio Adelaide 1197 AM

5RPH - Vision Australia Radio Adelaide on 1197 AM - is a radio reading service: a station where volunteers read the daily newspapers, books and magazines aloud for people who are blind, have low vision, or cannot read print for other reasons. The letters stand for Radio for the Print Handicapped, the original name of the idea. It belongs to the Vision Australia Radio network, the group of RPH stations that covers most of the country.

For its audience the service is a daily connection to the world: the morning paper read cover to cover, serialised books, and programs about living with vision loss. The Adelaide station has served South Australia for decades from its volunteer studios. Beyond 1197 AM, the station streams live online - which for a service built on listening is the most natural extension there is, reaching anyone, anywhere.
