Thomas Grossi: Sports Gambling in College

Author: Dr. Michael Ayalon September 4, 2026 Duration: 43:42

Thomas Grossi is using his lived experience with gambling addiction and professional experience as a family law attorney to address the individual and family consequences of gambling-related harm. He created TAG Me In, Don't Chase: an organization dedicated to people and families from gambling-related harm through education, prevention, and pathways to recovery through both non-profit and traditional resources. This organization has been created with a special focus on young adults (high-schoolers and college-aged) with the goal to develop a statewide initiative focused on youth and young-adult gambling educations, prevention and recovery for both individuals and family members/educators (parents, siblings, athletic departments, and teachers).

In episode 704 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out how his psychology degree helps him as an attorney, when he realized gambling had become a problem, what is "chasing" in gambling, how normalization has changed the risk for young people, why gambling is so attractive to younger men, what are the early warning signs of gambling addiction, what are the ripple effects on family & friends, and how to start a conversation with someone who needs help. Enjoy!
