About Star 106.3 FM (AU Only)
Star 106.3 - 4RGT on the licence - launched in Townsville on 8 June 1999 as Mix FM, a Reg Grundy RG Capital creation, and has changed hands with the tide of Australian radio: Macquarie, Prime Media, Grant Broadcasters and, since January 2022, the Australian Radio Network.
The Star name arrived in May 2016 to match sister stations in Mackay and Cairns, and the format is hot adult contemporary hits, with local breakfast with Adam and Donny, a Midday Mix from Dannii aka DJ Delicious, and the Look Local Townsville community push.
Network shows like Will and Woody and the iHeart Countdown blend in on ARN's platform, while 20 Songs in a Row keeps the music density high and the playlist open to listener votes. Free to stream online, Star 106.3 makes an easy hits web radio listen - the sound of Townsville, from Castle Hill to the Coral Sea and anywhere in the world.
