North West FM 98.9

North West FM 98.9 has entered a new chapter: on 30 August 2026 the long-standing Melbourne community station relaunched as Nest Radio, keeping its 1993 broadcast licence, the callsign 3NOW, its Hadfield studios and its presenters - only the name changed.

The new name is wordplay on the station's geographic heart - the north and west of Melbourne - folded together with the nest as a symbol of place and community. The launch party opened the doors with a community BBQ, local artists broadcast direct-to-air from the green room, and listeners invited into the studio to record the station's new idents themselves.

Same frequency, 98.9 FM, same volunteer spirit, now streaming as Nest Radio online. English-language and free to listen to anywhere, it makes an easy community web radio listen - three decades of Melbourne's north-west, freshly feathered for the next generation.
